Our History
Diversified Restaurant Systems, Inc. (DRS) was established in San Diego, CA, in 1986. Founded by Dan Spinazzola, DRS focused on specialized procurement solutions for the restaurant industry. DRS began representing various food companies into the QSR segment of the foodservice industry, utilizing years of prior experience and expertise in protein and produce sales.
Dan’s eldest son, Mike, joined the family business in the early 1990’s, and together they began to shift their focus from a Southern California chain business to national accounts. In 1996, DRS began searching for strategic suppliers to represent as “best in class” partners to the largest QSR chain in the country. Soon after, DRS became the produce buying arm, representing Independent Purchasing Cooperative, Inc. (IPC) for all fresh vegetables in North America, continuing this relationship for almost 25 years.
Mark, Dan’s youngest son joined the family business in 2003 while they continued to expand the protein side of the business. With a focus on family, core values and passion for the foodservice industry, DRS continued to develop and build their team of experts, expanding to Dallas in 2021.
